Isaiah 43:16-21; Philippians 3:4b-14; John 12:1-8

Sacrifice can seem like a costly waste. Solomon sacrificed 22,000 cattle and 122,000 sheep and goats when he dedicated the temple in Jerusalem. Likewise, Judas thought Mary's sacrificial pouring out of expensive oil on Jesus' feet a waste. Sunday morning worship can also seem like a waste, both in terms of our time and money, but to praise God is the reason why God created us to be His own people.
