God is motivated by compassion

It may feel like we're up against a lot, and, if fact, we are. One word I often hear people use to describe the past 15 months is "biblical." The world is changing fast. We are asked to change with it, but seldom are we asked how we'd like things to change.
The truth is we are powerless to stop most things, though we may succeed in altering our circumstances a bit. The exiles from Judah, finding themselves deported to Babylon, may have felt as we do, and it was to them that God promised redemption and a Messiah. "In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety." (Jer. 23:6)
Centuries later, Mark wrote about the fulfillment of that promise in Jesus Christ.
