The covenant saves. Period. Whether in the old or new dispensation, it is not the merit of the Israelites, the merit of the Church, or any personal effort that saves, but the covenant with God, written in Jesus’ blood, that saves. The great and crucial (literally) difference is that in the old dispensation the covenant was a dead letter. No law ever leapt off the stone tablet or scroll and sought the lost sinner. But in the new dispensation Jesus, incarnate covenant word Himself, actively seeks the lost.
