Easter Weekend Services
There are many different ways to celebrate Easter this year at St Peter’s. Just as the resurrected Jesus came in many forms and appearances, we hope you can find a liturgical celebration with the community that affirms your unique spiritual journey with us.
Good Friday: Rev. Dr. Matthew Calkins, Rev. Cam Hardy, Rev. Canon Albert Ogle & Music Director Nancy Vanderlee
Today, Rev. Mathew Caulkins preached at the noon Good Friday services and I will be preaching in his church this evening at 7 p.m. — Grace Church on Franklin Avenue.
Holy Saturday will be commemorated this year at 7:00 pm with a spectacular bonfire outside St. Peter’s.
After the Good Friday service today we made little wooden crosses to represent all the things we would like to commit to God as we remember the suffering world and those who have lost loved ones this year.
As the church darkens tomorrow evening, the Pascal Candle will be lit from the embers of the burnt crosses and other written prayers and aspirations that we will throw onto the Easter Fire. Rev. Cam will carry the newly lit Pascal Candle into the darkened church and we will have a candle-lit Easter Service to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Rev. Cam will be preaching on Saturday evening.
On Easter Day, we will use Rite 1 at the 8:00 am service and look forward to Rite II with choir at 9:00 and 11:00 am. I will be preaching at all services and the traditional Easter Egg Hunt will begin during the 11:00 am service.
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating the coming of transforming light and new Life in Christ. Lent is finally over and Easter begins. Alleluia!!
